Hi everyone! I have just returned from my first trip out into the park. It was absolutely glorious and I had a great time. I am looking forward to sharing pictures and stories in the upcoming days.
My adventure was in the south eastern part of the Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve to Walker Lake and then floating some 80 miles of the Kobuk River. I have some great pictures and stories to share with you!
8 days full of adventure, laughing, and learning. A little bit of sunburn and a little bit of rain. Some raging water and some so placid you could swear that a lake monster was about to strike. Adventures in creative solutions and doing the smart thing, not always the fun thing. Rescuing wildlife and spotting it from afar. Trying to paddle upwind, yet downriver. Seeing America’s symbolic bird fly over on our Independence Day. And simply enjoying the wilderness and freedom I feel our founding Father’s had in mind.
